Owning a Ford: what to keep on top of
On a 1.0 EcoBoost, keep coolant and oil at the right level and change them on time. If your Fiesta or Focus has a Powershift automatic from about 2011 to 2016, note any judder and check whether software updates were done. Older vans and pickups need an eye on corrosion advisories.
- Coolant and oil checks on 1.0 EcoBoost engines.
- Powershift automatic judder and software updates.
- Corrosion advisories on older Transit and Ranger.
- Recall work completed at a Ford dealer.
Is my Ford ULEZ compliant?
Petrol Fords registered from 2006 generally meet ULEZ, so most Fiestas, Focuses and Pumas are fine. Diesel TDCi models need Euro 6, usually met from September 2015. An older Focus, Kuga or Mondeo diesel usually pays the £12.50 daily charge.
Can you get a Ford service history by registration?
Ford dealers log services digitally, and that record often shows recall and software work too. For Fords from model year 2012 the Full HPI Check with Service History reads it for £14.95. Fords looked after by independent garages may show fewer entries. If nothing is held, the service history part costs nothing.
Which Ford models can be checked?
Every Ford with a UK registration, including the Fiesta, Focus, Puma, EcoSport, Kuga, Mondeo, Mustang, Ranger and Transit.
