Owning a Mazda: what to keep on top of
If you drive a Skyactiv-D diesel mostly on short trips, check the oil level between services and give it regular longer runs. On an MX-5, look out for corrosion advisories at each MOT and keep the underside clean in winter.
- Oil level between services on 2.2 Skyactiv-D diesels.
- Diesel particulate filter health on short-trip cars.
- Corrosion advisories on older MX-5s.
- Recall work completed at a Mazda dealer.
Is my Mazda ULEZ compliant?
Petrol Mazdas registered from 2006 generally meet ULEZ, which covers the Mazda2, petrol Mazda3 and MX-5. Diesels need Euro 6, so Skyactiv-D models registered before September 2015 may pay the £12.50 daily charge.
Can you get a Mazda service history by registration?
Mazda dealers record their work digitally. For Mazdas from model year 2012 the Full HPI Check with Service History reads it for £14.95, showing whether oil changes kept pace with the mileage. If nothing is held, the service history part is not charged.
Which Mazda models can be checked?
Every Mazda with a UK registration, including the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-30, CX-5, CX-60 and MX-5.
