Owning a Nissan: what to keep on top of
If your Nissan has a CVT automatic, the fluid change on schedule is what keeps it healthy. On a Leaf, battery health matters more than mileage, so keep any battery reports. On the Qashqai and X-Trail, watch suspension and tyre advisories at each MOT.
- CVT gearbox fluid changes on automatic models.
- Battery health reports on the Leaf.
- Suspension and tyre wear on the Qashqai and X-Trail.
- Diesel particulate filter care on dCi diesels used for short trips.
Is my Nissan ULEZ compliant?
Petrol Nissans registered from 2006 generally meet ULEZ, and the electric Leaf is exempt. Diesel dCi models need Euro 6, usually met from September 2015, so an older Qashqai diesel often pays the £12.50 daily charge.
Can you get a Nissan service history by registration?
Nissan dealers keep a digital service record, including the battery checks done on the Leaf. For Nissans from model year 2012 the Full HPI Check with Service History shows it for £14.95. No record means no charge for the service history part.
Which Nissan models can be checked?
Every Nissan with a UK registration, including the Micra, Juke, Qashqai, X-Trail, Leaf and Navara.
