Owning a SEAT: what to keep on top of
Keep DSG oil changes and timing belt work on schedule, make sure diesel emissions recall work was done, and on FR models check brake and tyre wear more often than the MOT forces you to.
- DSG gearbox oil changes on automatics.
- Emissions recall on EA189 TDI diesels from about 2009 to 2015.
- Brake and tyre wear on FR and other sportier models.
- Timing belt work at the scheduled interval.
Is my SEAT ULEZ compliant?
Petrol SEATs registered from 2006 generally meet ULEZ. Diesel TDI models need Euro 6, usually met from September 2015, so an older Leon or Ateca diesel often pays the £12.50 daily charge.
Can you get a SEAT service history by registration?
SEAT retailers record their work digitally. For SEATs from model year 2012 the Full HPI Check with Service History reads the record for £14.95. If SEAT holds nothing for the car, the service history part is not charged.
Which SEAT models can be checked?
Every SEAT with a UK registration, including the Mii, Ibiza, Leon, Arona, Ateca and Tarraco.
