Owning a Škoda: what to keep on top of
On a high-mileage Octavia or Superb, keep the DSG gearbox oil and the timing belt on schedule, and make sure the diesel emissions recall was done on TDI models from about 2009 to 2015.
- DSG gearbox oil changes on automatics.
- Timing belt replacement on TDI diesels.
- Emissions recall on EA189 TDI diesels from about 2009 to 2015.
- Suspension wear on cars with taxi or fleet history.
Is my Škoda ULEZ compliant?
Petrol Škodas registered from 2006 generally meet ULEZ. Diesel TDI models need Euro 6, usually met from September 2015, so an older Octavia or Superb diesel often pays the £12.50 daily charge.
Can you get a Škoda service history by registration?
Škoda retailers log services in the same digital system as Volkswagen. For Škodas from model year 2012 the Full HPI Check with Service History reads it for £14.95, which is especially useful on an ex-fleet car with several owners. No record means no charge for that part.
Which Škoda models can be checked?
Every Škoda with a UK registration, including the Fabia, Scala, Octavia, Superb, Kamiq, Karoq, Kodiaq and Enyaq.
