Owning a Toyota: what to keep on top of
Service at a Toyota centre if you want Relax cover to continue, keep an eye on the hybrid system health check that comes with each service, and protect hybrids against catalytic converter theft, which has hit the Prius, Yaris and Auris hard.
- Toyota Relax: each Toyota centre service extends cover for another year.
- Hybrid health check results in the service record.
- Catalytic converter theft on hybrid models.
- Brake wear, which is often light on hybrids but still needs checking.
Is my Toyota ULEZ compliant?
Most Toyotas in the UK are petrol or petrol hybrid, and petrol cars registered from 2006 generally meet ULEZ, so most Yaris, Corolla, C-HR and Prius models comply. Older diesel Avensis, Auris and RAV4 models from before September 2015 usually pay the £12.50 daily charge.
Can you get a Toyota service history by registration?
Toyota centres record each visit, and that record is what shows whether a car is still in Relax cover. For Toyotas from model year 2012 the Full HPI Check with Service History reads it for £14.95. If Toyota holds no records, the service history part is not charged.
Which Toyota models can be checked?
Every Toyota with a UK registration, including the Aygo, Yaris, Corolla, Auris, C-HR, RAV4, Prius and Hilux.
